Last Week’s Gospel
As I reflected on the Gospel passage from St. Matthew, I thought it was a wonderful lesson about the nature of faith, humility, and the boundless love of our Christ. This story of a Canaanite woman's encounter with Jesus teaches us valuable insights that we can share with each other and our children.
In this passage, the Canaanite woman approaches Jesus, seeking His help for her daughter. Her plea is met initially with what might seem like indifference, as Jesus responds that his mission is to the "lost sheep of Israel." However, her response demonstrates unwavering faith and humility. She persists in her request, falling at Jesus' feet and proclaiming, "Lord, help me!" Jesus commends her for her "great faith" and grants her request, healing her daughter. This encounter illustrates that faith knows no boundaries and that God's love is available to all who develop a relationship with him, with a genuine heart.
We can draw several meaningful lessons from this passage, such as persistence in prayer, having a humble heart, knowing God’s love knows no bounds and that His love is extended to all people. It also encourages us to treat everyone with love and compassion and finally, that our faith is a gift from God to be treasured and passed on to others.
As we continue on our own journeys of faith, let us be inspired by the Canaanite woman's example of unwavering trust and humility, teaching our children and each other to approach life's challenges with the same spirit.

Each grade will present their oral recitation as part of the parade too. We are looking forward to a wonderful morning with you all!

Mrs Daniella Thompson
Religious Education Coordinator
Welcome to this year’s celebration for the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation which begins the Season of Creation. The Season of Creation goes from September 1 to October 4, uniting the entire Christian family across the world in a celebration of prayer and action to protect our common home. This year, the theme for the Season of Creation is: Let justice and peace flow and is inspired by the words of the prophet Amos: “Let justice flow on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream” (the prophet Amos 5:24).
As followers of Christ from around the globe, we share a common call to care for creation. We are co-creators and part of all that God has made. Our wellbeing is interwoven with the wellbeing of the Earth.
Some activities our school will be participating in will be:
-
School liturgy to begin the Season of Creation

-

-

PB4L Focus - New Playground
Our current focus is how students can be safe, respectful and responsible when playing on the new ‘Playground Equipment’ playground. Teachers have taken students out to the new playground to teach them how to use each piece of equipment correctly. Students were also reminded of the importance of taking turns on the different parts of the equipment, as well as being patient when waiting for your turn.
Soccer Gala Day
The Soccer Gala Day was a fun, entertaining and inspiring experience for Years 3, 4, 5 and 6. This event was on Friday the 28th of July. The Catholic schools in the Wollongong Diocese all partook in this occasion and the schools played each other in a friendly environment.
Though our school team lost a few and won a few it was a great privilege to represent our school in the Soccer Gala Day. Many people, though they have never played soccer before, played a part in this Gala Day.
We demonstrated characteristics such as, sportsmanship, courage and enthusiasm. Teachers and parent helpers were a great support for the students such as team captains and organising our positions and our roles.
All in all the Soccer Gala Day was a great experience for us, it helped us to understand the main ideas of sport and sportsmanship. It was also great fun.

Western Region Athletics
The Western Regional Athletics Carnival was a fun experience for all the students in the Macarthur Region. The Athletics Carnival was held at the Campbelltown Sports Centre.
The event had all types of events including field and track events. For example, discus, shot put, 100m, 200m, 800m, long jump, high jump and relays.
A few students from Holy Family Catholic Primary School got into the Wollongong Diocese trials. One of our Year 5 students, Divine, got into MacKillop Level. We are very happy for him and we are going to cheer him on as much as we can.
We want to thank Mrs Rolfe, Mrs Smith, our Team manager, Miss Namrood and our parents for making this day an enjoyable experience for all Holy Family Students .
In conclusion, the Western Region Athletics Carnival was a fun experience for everyone.
