Season of Creation Week

20230824_Creation.png

Welcome to this year’s celebration for the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation which begins the Season of Creation. The Season of Creation goes from September 1 to October 4, uniting the entire Christian family across the world in a celebration of prayer and action to protect our common home. This year, the theme for the Season of Creation is:  Let justice and peace flow and is inspired by the words of the prophet Amos: “Let justice flow on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream” (the prophet Amos 5:24).

As followers of Christ from around the globe, we share a common call to care for creation. We are co-creators and part of all that God has made. Our wellbeing is interwoven with the wellbeing of the Earth.

Some activities our school will be participating in will be:

  • School liturgy to begin the Season of Creation

  • Being grateful for creation through prayer

  • Watering of our trees and gardens

  • Beginning our Creation units in Religious Education within the school

  • Looking after aspects of creation that we have in our school community

  • Reflecting on creation through meditation

  • Spending time in nature

  • Thinking about what we can do as individuals to look after our World

Here are some things you could do at home within your families or communities:

  • Go to Mass/Church

  • Being grateful for creation through prayer

  • Enjoying some physical activities in our outdoor environments

  • Plant a garden or a tree

  • Do some gardening

  • Spending time with nature as a family or community

What are you going to do for Care of Creation?
