Last Sunday’s Gospel...
Jesus told us that in order to do the right thing, we must sometimes be brave and make a sacrifice. If we want the Kingdom of Heaven to exist on Earth we have to work for it. We must look after each other and that takes time and effort. Whatever we do for another person, we also do for Christ.
Did you know...
Paul’s letter are the first accounts of the stories of Jesus. The Gospels were written later.

The new canteen operators are getting all ready for next term. You will receive menus this week and instructions for online ordering. The canteen will be open from the first day of next term for everything except online orders. For the first two weeks, please use a traditional system for ordering lunch – money in an envelope or bag that the children put in the class basket. Parents won’t be able to go to the canteen to order their child’s food in the mornings. Online ordering will start in the third week once everything is up and running. More details will come out separately.
So far we have managed to stay Covid 19 free thanks to all of you adhering to the routines – thank you. We do have an extensive plan in place should we have a case in the school community so you can be confident that we are prepared.
Kindergarten interviews have stretched over a longer timeframe this year. It looks like we will have close to full classes – if not full. Offers go out this week and I know you will join me in welcoming our new families when the time comes.
Thank you to all of you who have taken up the opportunity to speak to your child’s teacher through the telephone interviews. There were advantages and disadvantages to this system. I am very interested in your feedback about your experience in order to look at the possibility of offering a telephone option again in the future.
I hope you all have a lovely holiday with your children. I remember a priest saying to us parents at a school Mass to ‘waste time with your children’. Now my own children are grown up I understand how important that advice is. Once they are grown, you really do wonder where the time went and the school holidays provide so many memory making opportunities. I am looking forward to seeing you all again next term!
God Bless,
Principal
Mr Frank Tabone commenced employment as a Groundsman at Holy Family School on 19 June 1989.
The ‘Catholic Identity’ described in Frank’s Role Description and Duty Statement states, “All members of the school community have a capacity to impact on the lives of others….” Frank has fulfilled this role with dedication and hard work. He has certainly impacted the lives of staff and students since 1989 with his friendly smile and warm greeting each morning. Frank was born and educated in Malta and has lived in Macquarie Fields the whole time of his employment with Holy Family.
Frank was interviewed and employed by Sister Bernadette Nichols as a Groundsman for the ‘upkeep of school grounds – lawn mowing, cutting of shrubs etc, plus some general maintenance.’ Little did Frank know that there would be a need for a ride-on lawn mower, a hedger, a leaf blower, a toilet plunger, secateurs, saws, tools to match every nut, bolt and screw, edger and hoses to cover the length and width of the school.
The whole School community joins with Mrs Rolfe our Principal, and all the Principals since Sister Bernadette, to wish ‘Mr Tabone’ a happy, healthy and safe retirement.
May he enjoy the blessings of his wonderful children and grandchildren.
May God grant you always …
a sunbeam to warm you,
a moonbeam to charm you,
a sheltering angel so nothing can harm you,
laughter to cheer you,
faithful friends near you,
and whenever you pray, heaven to hear you.

The Vinnies Winter Appeal has officially been launched.
Mr Grant Dodds, Our School Pastoral Support Worker is co-ordinating the Vinnies Winter Appeal in Holy Family School. We are asking for donations of blankets, toys and clothes. If you have any clean blankets and clothes and unbroken toys, please send them with your child to add to their classroom collection.
Each classroom will have plastic tubs to store donations.
Your donation will help families who are less fortunate than us this winter, so help us end the pain of poverty.
This compassionate outlook, enthusiasm and vision continues today in Australia. There are thousands of people who every day share their time, care for humanity and energy to make a difference in the lives of disadvantaged people all around
The School canteen will return in Term 3. Keep in touch with your Compass notifications for more information.
