Feast of Corpus Christi
As a Church, we celebrated the Feast of Corpus Christi last Sunday. It is also known as the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, this feast honors Jesus Christ, as present under the appearances of bread and wine. This Presence happens through the change which the Church calls transubstantiation (“change of substance”), when at the Consecration of the Mass, the priest says the words which Christ Himself pronounced over bread and wine.
The Eucharist is a beautiful sacrament and as The second Vatican Council tells us, the Eucharist is the source and summit of all that we believe. Aren’t we lucky that we can experience this time and time again!
We also pray for our students in Year 3 who have been preparing to receive the sacrament of Holy Communion for the first time. We will celebrate this Sunday, with our Parish.
Year 6 Mass with Bishop Brian
Yesterday our Year 6 students and teachers joined with Year 6 students from St Justin’s Oran Park, Mater Dei Camden, St Thomas More Ruse, St John’s Campbelltown, Mary Immaculate Eagle Vale at Mary MacKillop Parish, Oran Park to celebrate Mass. Mass was celebrated by Bishop Brian Mascord and was also attended by Mr Peter Hill, the director of Schools in the Diocese of Wollongong. It was a special occasion for our students and they also had the opportunity to have lunch with their peers at St Justin’s Primary School before returning to school. Our Year 6 students represented us beautifully.

St Benedict's Feast Day & Grandparents Day
Friday June 23rd, 2023
We are very excited to be able to celebrate St Benedict’s Feast day and Grandparents day with you on Friday June 23rd, 2023.
Mass will begin at 9am in the Church which will be followed by a morning tea in the school grounds. Visitors can bring their own morning tea to share with their children. Parents are asked to not bring food containing nuts.
Children will be sitting in Stage groups (ES1 and Stage 1 Netball court, Stage 2 Astro turf and Stage 3 Basketball courts). You are invited to collect your children from the various stages and sit in one of the listed locations. You may like to bring a picnic blanket or chair to sit on.
In order to ensure student supervision and food allergy safety children who do not have a family member present will sit with their class. Students are not able to sit with friends and families.
At the conclusion of morning tea children will return to classrooms with their class teacher. An announcement will be made when parents are able to visit the classrooms for Open Classrooms.
In order to ensure the day runs smoothly once parents are in the school grounds we ask that you stay in the grounds until the conclusion of Open Classrooms. The school gates will be closed during this time with access to the school only available through the office.
We will also have our Stage 1 Toilet block allocated for parents. All visitors must use this toilet block only. There will be signs to guide you!
The rest of the school day for the children will include a grade disco and learning about St Benedict.
Year 6 will also be selling lolly bags at break time for $2. Students are to wear sports uniform on this day.

PB4L Focus -
Arrival to School (before the morning bell)
Our current fortnightly focus is how students can be safe, respectful and responsible when arriving at school in the mornings, and procedures to follow before the morning bell. The school gates open at 08:15am , and a teacher walks students down the main pathway to the Basketball Court. While walking to the Basketball Court, students will place their bags outside their classrooms, and continue to make their way to the Basketball Court.
At the Basketball Court, the teacher will open the back gates.
During this time, students will be seated with their grade in allocated areas until 08:30am. At 08:30am a second teacher will then walk infant students to the Shelter area. Primary students will remain at the Basketball Court. All students are to walk and interact with peers during this time, no equipment is to be used.
At 08:45am the morning bell will ring, and students will walk and line up at their classrooms, ready to learn!
