Last Sunday was the first Sunday of Advent. The Advent season includes the four Sundays that precede Christmas and is a time of preparation for the coming of the Lord. During this season of the Church, we recall two central elements of our faith: the final coming of the Lord in glory and the incarnation of the Lord in the birth of Jesus. Advent also marks the first Sunday of the new liturgical year for the Church in which the Gospel of Matthew will be the primary Gospel proclaimed (Cycle A). We wish you a prayerful Advent where you find time for watchful waiting, preparation, hope, faith, joy and peace.
We are also preparing for the final weeks of the school year. The Leadership Team has been busy reading our student reports and have been very impressed with the efforts the students have made in their learning throughout this semester and the progress students have made. The student reports will be made available, via Compass by the end of next week.
Students have also been busy preparing for our 2022 Christmas Concert. We look forward to sharing it with our community on Wednesday of Week 10 at 11:30am in the hall. Mrs David has outlined in her report, dress requirements for this exciting community event.
Thank you to those of you who have already begun to support our St Vincent de Paul Christmas Hamper Appeal. For those who haven’t yet had the opportunity to do so, there is still time as donations close on December 7th. Mrs David has also outlined further details of this.
Have a wonderful week!
Mrs Smith
I would like to thank all of you for all your support with ensuring your child is dressed in the correct school summer uniform. I understand that some students may require new uniforms over the summer holidays and I kindly ask that all items purchased adhere to the school uniform policy. Throughout the week teachers awarded stickers to students who were wearing the correct uniform.
Just a few reminders:
School leather shoes: are to be plain, standard black leather lace up traditional school shoes. No deck shoes or boots. No black leather joggers.
Please give our school Facebook page a like. We regularly upload photos of students through this platform and would love to keep our school community updated. Select the link for Holy Family, Ingleburn Facebook page.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION REPORT with Mrs Deanna David
Greetings and many blessings to you all. Here are some updates and resources that I feel will be of benefit to you.
St Vincent de Paul Christmas Hampers
Christmas is coming and for most of us it is a time of joy and hope, a time where we celebrate Jesus’ birth and spoil our families with presents. However, for some disadvantaged families, Christmas is a burden and a worrying time. Our local St Vincent de Paul Conference has identified some families experiencing extreme financial hardship - families who do not even have the basic necessities in the home.
As a school community, we would like to support the works of St Vincent de Paul Society through their Christmas Appeal. We are asking each child to bring in one or two items that could go into a hamper. We will make up hampers with the donated goods. If your family is unable to assist, please do not worry - we do not want this to be a burden on you. If you would prefer your child to bring in an alternative item than what has been assigned to your child’s class, this is fine too (for example: a small gift for a child). We ask that expired food or drink not be sent in as we cannot gift these items.
We would like the items brought to class by Wednesday the 7th of December.

Looking after your family this festive season
Keep your family healthy and happy over the festive period with these tips and ideas.
Most of us look forward to the holidays. It’s the perfect time to spend quality time with family and friends, looking back at the year just gone and gearing up for the year ahead.
However, overindulgence and the disruption to the normal routine can leave you with a potentially grumpy, unhealthy and disorganised family. How can you ensure that every family member looks after themselves and each other at this time of year?
10 Tips for a happier Christmas
1 Get outside | Instead of sitting around eating, use your family time to get into the great outdoors. Perhaps pack up and go camping or set off on a hike in a local national park. Getting some exercise and fresh air will get everyone energised and back on track.
2 Delegate | Christmas load shouldn’t fall to one person. Right at the beginning of the holidays, delegate tasks to everyone. Make jobs such as wrapping presents, writing cards and cooking Christmas dinner the responsibility of every family member.
3 Catch up with family and friends | Are there some people you don’t see enough of during the hectic daily routine? Now could be the perfect time to visit the people who make you happy.
4 Factor in some downtime | Let’s face it, Christmas can be exhausting. Try and carve out some downtime for your family, either together or individually, to recharge your festive batteries. Take a walk, read a book, practice meditation - whatever helps you unwind for the next activity.
5 Sleep | With the disruption to the family routine, everyone’s sleeping patterns could shift. Try to encourage going to bed and waking up at similar times to the normal routine to make sure the family gets enough rest.
6 Quality time | It’s good to remember that Christmas is about sharing quality time rather than accumulating presents. Play games together and make a point of putting electronic devices away so you can fully concentrate on each other.
7 Create Christmas rituals | Create some family rituals this Christmas - for example, instead of an advent calendar with chocolate, how about asking the kids to donate small items of food to give to charity instead? Or get creative and have a gingerbread house decorating competition on Christmas Eve?
8 Care for those around you | Do you have elderly relatives or neighbours? Christmas can be a lonely and isolating time of year for some people without family nearby. Knock on the door of someone who would appreciate the gift of your time this Christmas.
9 A time for reflection | The holiday period can be a time to reflect on the past year and your intentions for the next year. But keep it simple - multiple resolutions can fail if we put too much pressure on ourselves.
10 Support | Seek help if you are feeling overwhelmed and stressed by Christmas. Keep an eye on friends and neighbours who might be lonely. Christmas and New Year can impact our mental health with feelings of anxiety and depression, so if you or someone you know needs help, pick up the phone to LifeLine on 13 11 14 or use the live chat on their website. The holidays can also be hard for those grieving. You might also wish to contact Griefline at 1300845745 (8-8 M-F)

Our Swimming program which was held each Monday for 8 weeks has now finished. It was a great success and Im sure the students not only had fun, but learn't a lot about water safety!!
Compass - it is important that every parent can access compass. We use Compass as our main communication form. Compass allows parents to see our notifications, school reports, newsletters, give permission for excursions and to add a student attendance note when the student is absent.
What happens if my child is away? update compass, no need to call the school as well. Only put in compass for whole days, NOT PARTIAL ABSENCES
Importance of being on time to school each day
By being late, students miss important messages from the teacher and may miss out on important learning activities that happen early in the day.
The school bell goes at 8.45am, all students should be at school prior to the bell. Any student that arrives late will be marked as a partial absence.
