Last Sunday’s Gospel…
We heard Luke’s version of the Beatitudes from Jesus’ Sermon on the mount. In it, Jesus gives hope to all people who are at the mercy of others, or powerless to help themselves, or who are poor and oppressed. He promises rewards in the next life. It also makes us ask ourselves whether we do enough to show mercy, treat people fairly, go out of our way to give comfort where we can, and to use our resources wisely, for our own good but also for the good of others.
From the Principal...
At this stage we don’t have any news about the easing of restrictions for schools. I thank you for your patience in testing your children and adhering to the rules put in place to keep our students safe. As soon as I hear anything, I will pass it on to you. If pick up arrangements have to continue, we will change to A-G at Koala Park and H-Z at the front of the hall but I will send a separate alert if and when we do that.
Parents picking up from Koala park, you did extremely well last year with this but perhaps some of our new parents are not as aware of the rules? Please comply with the signs. Parking is only permitted on the side of the street next to Koala Park – not in front of the houses. And it is illegal to park across any driveway so please be mindful of that.
It is the time of year when we usually have Meet and Greet Interviews where you tell the teachers about your children. We are holding off on these to hopefully hold them face to face in a couple of weeks. If restrictions don’t lift we will organize something different and do it via phone. Teachers will need to be released from class because we don’t have enough lines to all call after school so hopefully we will be able to meet soon.
I am very much looking forward to the swimming carnival tomorrow with all our Year 3-6 students. Everyone will be able to cheer our competitive swimmers on and have a go themselves in a safe way. There will be water play back at school for Years K-2 as well. We will be able to show you all next year when you will able to come too! Maybe we should have a parent’s race? Start training!
We will have a Covid safe assembly this week in separate cohorts so our students can receive their awards (students only). They have all been working very hard so far and we are proud of the way they have come back to school.
God Bless
