Last Sunday’s Gospel…
A blind man was sitting by the side of the road as Jesus came past. He called out to Jesus to let him see. Jesus was struck by his faith and granted his wish and Bartimaeus could see and began to follow Jesus. This story of another of Jesus’ miracles tells of the physical blindness but can also serve to remind us of our spiritual blindness. At times we can’t see the way to follow Jesus or we make things complicated. It seems that simply asking for the right thing will enable the path to be made easy for us.
From the Principal...
We have had a truly delightful two weeks with your children! Mrs Smith and I love seeing them and you each morning all looking happy. That happiness remains for their day at school and all the staff feel it too. It has been a very smooth return to school, and while we were ready for some issues with returning to school, so far, everything has gone perfectly. The children just want to learn and be with their friends. The teachers have created many engaging activities for the students and testing so far has shown that most of the children have come back at higher levels of achievement that when they started remote learning so they are on track to finish the year successfully. All of you, along with the teachers, have done a brilliant job working together! We are looking after anyone who has slipped behind a bit as well so we anticipate everyone being ready for 2022.
I would also like to thank you for the way you are dropping off and especially picking up our students. You have adjusted very well to the different procedures and all our students are safe both in the car park and along the road because you have done so well backing us up by collecting the students from the grass areas. A very big and sincere thank you for your patience and adaptability. You have taken a big worry off our shoulders. Hopefully it won’t be too long before we can welcome you all back onto the school grounds.
Teachers are starting to prepare class lists for 2022. If, for any reason, you would like your child separated from another student, please put that in writing and send it via the office or email to me. Even if you have spoken to a teacher please also send me a note. If it's something you think we already know about again please send a note. We can forget things from one year to the next. I always go through all the lists and cross check with your requests because we can forget when we have 350 students to think about. Please do not request to have or not have a certain teacher because I am sure you will understand I cannot accommodate those. Please have all your requests to me by the end of next week Friday 5th November.
It is World Teacher’s Day on Friday. I am providing morning tea and lunch for our very hardworking staff. Perhaps your child could bring in a small token of appreciation for their teacher on Friday. I know it would mean a lot to them.
God bless,
Michelle Rolfe
Principal
This week teachers have been explicitly teaching students the new procedures with afternoon dismissal and playground expectations. Students have settled into these new routines and are to be commended for their flexibility and resilience.
We greatly appreciate all your cooperation when picking up your child and would like to thank all of you for the smooth transition to school.
Next week students will be looking at the Benedictine Value, Community. Students will be working through various activities as a class and show ways they can live this value by doing their part to make the school community a safe and happy place.
Regards,
Miss Alana Stroligo
