Last Sunday’s Gospel...
Jesus calmed the storm after the disciples, who were in the boat with Him, terrified, woke Him up. It is a reminder to us that though God can seem to be absent in our darkest and stormiest times, He is always with us and we need to trust in Him.
Did you know...
The Sea of Galilee is so large that it can have very strong storms and very large waves similar to those experienced on an ocean. It would have been very scary for people out in a fishing boat.
From the Principal...
The PB4L Team, along with the Leadership Team are looking to enhance the House System in our school. It builds on the concept of our sports houses and will incorporate as many aspects of school life as possible as well as sport. We hope to encourage a spirit of friendly competition, individual achievement contributing to the community and grow relationships across the grades. Points can be earned for the house when students earn a sticker, perhaps returns library books, hands homework in, receives an academic achievement award, tidies up the playground, wears correct uniform etc. These are just initial ideas. Parents can also earn points for coming to P&F, attending information sessions, helping at events etc. Part of this expanding of the house system will be new names. The current names – Rafter, Waugh, Sauvage and Freeman are after wonderful sports people and have served us well. We’d like to look at something that will reflect more broadly the nature of the houses. I would very much appreciate your input into this. Have a chat as a family about ideas for names and please send them to me. The staff will do this with classes also and we’ll come up with a short list which I will send home to you so you can vote for your favourite one. Please also send in any ideas for ways to earn points. We are very much in the draft stage at the moment.
You will have received the Compass alert by now about changes we have had to make with regards to Bennie’s Day. We pray that Term 3 will give us the opportunity to be able to have you all on the grounds in a large group again.
Please remember that the Athletics Carnival is the first day back next term and that all permission notes must be returned by tomorrow for the students to be able to attend. We will keep you posted via Compass about the changes to arrangements due to Covid so please keep an eye on that.
Parent teacher interviews have provided us with valuable feedback about the reports – thank you for that. It has also highlighted that some parents do not access Compass. If you have difficulties please contact the office for assistance. Can I also ask you help in reaching out to other parents? If you are reading this you are accessing Compass of course. Please check in with fellow parents and give them a hand or direct them to us. All schools are going more and more paperless so the only contact will be through Compass. It is very important for us to be able to communicate with you all.
Have a lovely break with your children!
God Bless,
Michelle Rolfe

Our current fortnightly focus has been focusing on how students can be safe, respectful and responsible at Church. Students will be able to model the school rules at Church tomorrow when they attend Mass for St Benedict’s Feast Day.
Over the last 5 weeks, students have been working very hard to receive tokens from teachers. At the commencement of Week 6 each class chose a number of tokens to work towards and a reward. Students receive tokens when teachers can see them modelling positive behaviours.
Social and Emotional Learning
As I mentioned previously some grades have been using various strategies in their classroom including Smiling Mind, mindful breathing, mindful colouring and creating zentangles. Another toolbox strategy is ‘Gratitude Circles’. Gratitude Circles invites students to share their feelings about gratitude and to express gratitude for things large and small. Students can articulate it verbally, record it on a piece of paper or decorate a rock.

Some prompts may be:
-One thing that I am thankful/grateful for…
-I’m grateful for three things I can hear/see/touch...
Uniform
Just a reminder that earrings can only be a silver/gold ball stud (no stones) or sleeper/hoop earrings that can be rotated through the ear (no clips). Please see the image below or contact your child’s classroom teacher if you have any further questions. We have been working extremely hard on ensuring all students are in the correct uniform and appreciate all your support.
Tuesday 13th July (second day back)
Remember your bread bags, bread bags!!
And don’t forget your bread tags, bread tags!
Over the fortnight students and teachers have been extremely busy collecting recycled bread bags and bread tags. Wonder have announced that the competition has been extended to the beginning of Term 3 so please continue collecting bread bags and bread tags over the holidays. When Term 3 commences we will collect all final bread bags on Tuesday 13th July.
Over the last few weeks 6 White have been collecting each class’ bread bags and collating this data. In Week 7 1 White had 57 bread bags and in Week 8 5 Blue won with 44 bread bags. Remember all the collected plastic will be used to create wonderful things like play equipment! PLUS all registered schools are in the draw to WIN one of five exercise circuits made from the recycled plastic we collect.
Keep up all the great work!!
Thank you for all your support regarding the Wonder Competition and all matters related to PB4L.
Regards,
Alana Stroligo
Year 6 Trip to Canberra
On Thursday the 10th and Friday 11th of June, Year 6 went on an overnight excursion to Canberra. It involved an education tour of the national capital. Students were given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia’s history, culture, heritage and democracy.
The students had a wonderful time and learnt so much about Canberra and our Government.
The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian Government is contributing funding of $30 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion.
Netball Gala Day
On Thursday 17th June, 90 students represented Holy Family, Ingleburn at the Western Region Netball Gala Day held at Minto. Students competed against various schools in the diocese. All students are to be congratulated for showing great encouragement and sportsmanship towards their teammates and opponents.
Thank you to Mrs Bakulic, Mrs Yule, Mr Dudman, Mrs Anbu, Mr Shannon, Mrs Kulmar and Mrs Poll for coaching. We are so appreciative of your help.
Thank you to the very supportive families and friends who came along to spectate and cheer on our students.
The Soccer Gala Day will be the next gala day for students to attend in 2021. Permission notes for the soccer gala day will be distributed over the coming weeks to students in Years 3-6.
