Last Sunday’s Gospel...
Jesus spoke about being just in our dealings with the people who do wrong by us. This extended to the ways we develop laws as a society. Jesus said that the just laws we develop on earth will be considered the same way in Heaven.
Did you know...
In St Paul’s time, the way women wore their hair showed their social status. Some of the high born women thought the servants or slaves of the time should be prevented from going to church. St Paul made the rule that all women should have their heads covered when hearing him preach so they were all of equal status. That’s where the tradition of wearing a lace veil or even a hat in church comes from for women.
From the Principal...
Spring is here and with it the usual unpredictable nature of the weather coupled with the delightfully fragrant air, and flowers everywhere. Our school uniform policy states that after Father’s Day, the summer uniform may be worn. Please use your judgement as parents for which uniform to wear according to the weather. Just make sure that the students are either in complete summer or complete winter uniform and not a combination of both so they continue to look smart and present a positive image of our school.
When you come into or walk by the office area, you will notice some canvases showing our Vision, Mission and Values statements. If you go looking for lost property you may think we have moved it too but it is still there. We have just tidied up the space and you will find the lost property in the four wooden boxes under the office bag pigeon holes. We have ordered some new furniture for the foyer and hope the whole area provides a more welcoming face to our school. Please let me know what you think when you see me. I am always open to suggestions too!
We have the next P&F Meeting via Zoom on Friday. I hope to see many of you there as we discuss various projects – big and small, and I find out how you are liking the way we are running your school. It is only when the school and parents work in partnership that we create the best possible school for your children.
PAT testing is commencing this week. This is the assessment held once each year that gives us data about student achievement and growth against a standard. It informs us about individual students, provides us with trends for our school and gives feedback on teacher impact on learning as well. We are particularly looking forward to seeing the data this year as we do not have NAPLAN data and we would like to see what impact COVID has had on learning. Please don’t feel you have to do anything with your children about this. There is no pressure. We want it to provide an honest snapshot of how we are doing in our daily practice.
I hope you all had a lovely day on Father’s Day. I know the students were very keen on making presents. I saw some particularly impressive painted pots that will give pleasure for years to come. We all need our Dads! My parish priest, in his homily, said that our Dads give us an image of what God the Father is like. What a special task that is! And we ask a special Blessing on all our Dads we haven’t been able to see this Father’s Day and on all those in heaven.
God Bless
Principal
