Reflection
Last Thursday and Friday I engaged in a leadership retreat with Principals from across our Diocese. The retreat took place at The Hermitage in Mittagong and was a wonderful time for prayer, reflection and renewal.
We reflected upon Bishop Brian Mascord’s words:
'If we are to be bearers of Christ’s love, it stands to reason that we must see through his eyes, love with his heart, and be driven by his mission.”
I wanted to share this with you all because it is a great reminder for us, as members of a Catholic community who all want to bear Christ’s love - that it is important we nurture our relationship with Christ through engaging in weekly Mass, personal prayer and also reflecting on how we live our lives.
Book Week Parade
It was wonderful to see so many of you at this year’s Book Week Parade. The children all looked wonderful and you all went to so much trouble to support the event! Here are some photos for you to enjoy:

Soccer Gala Day
Our Soccer Gala Day was held last Friday. This year, the Sports Coordinators from the Catholic Education Office created ‘micro gala days’ with less schools in attendance, but giving each school the opportunity to send more teams, thus increasing participation for more students to play and enjoy the day.
Our staff reported that it was a wonderful day and each team played really well and demonstrated great Holy Family sportsmanship!
Over the last months the P&F have worked really hard to update our representative sport uniforms and I’m really pleased to say that the socks and shirts that arrived just in time for the gala day looked amazing and we received many pleasing compliments about them! I’d like to take this opportunity to once again, thank our P&F for all the work behind the scenes in discerning, voting, ordering and delivering the socks and shirts to us!
The Soccer Gala Day was so much fun and we played 8 soccer games. People that have never played soccer before got to learn how to play soccer. We had great sportsmanship and even when we lost a game we did not get upset. We played against lots of different schools and It was the best. Also we got to make a candy salad when we had our break. We did lots of stretches to get prepared for our game. Our coach was the best because she bought us food. We would like to thank the P&F for the new jerseys and socks.

The soccer gala day was SO MUCH FUN! And we had amazing coaches and great sportsmanship.⚽️ and everyone also played 8 games altogether. Even anyone who had never played soccer went because they wanted to learn, and ended up really good at it. It was a spectacular day and everyone had a great time. Maybe you should go next time! Trust me it’s the BEST THING EVER!
We all worked very hard. If we didn’t win then that was fine. We still had a great time and scored a few goals and you also have your teammates to support you. All different schools from the Wollongong Diocese were there and we played against all the the schools at the gala day. We also did lots of stretches and practised with our coach. We would like to thank the P&F for giving us new shirts with our school name on it. Thank you for reading this!

Year 2 Excursion
Last Monday, Year 2 went to Symbio Wildlife Park for their excursion. They had so much fun on the day and the teachers reported that they engaged really well on the excursion. The staff members on the day were so impressed with our staff and students that they sent me an email commending everyone. An excerpt of the email is here:
Rangers Lauren, Jacinta, and Taya were really impressed with your fantastic staff and students. If you could pass along their praise to your supervisors at Holy Family Catholic Primary School, Ingleburn, we’d be very grateful. Your students' wonderful behavior deserves a big round of applause. We feel very lucky to have worked with such a wonderful group!
We know how amazing our staff and students are here at Holy Family, but it is always lovely to receive such positive feedback from others.
For all things at Holy Family, give thanks!

Belonging in a Connected Community
Belonging in a connected community is very important to us at Holy Family. We work hard to live out our vision to be a welcoming Catholic school community that endeavours to bear Christ to all. We aim to do this through the many opportunities for faith formation, high quality teaching and learning and robust PB4L (positive behaviours for learning) structures that are built on positive relationships and underpinned by Catholic Social Teaching. Our wonderful community celebrations involving our parents and carers, as well as our school’s Parents and Friends all help connect us as a community.
In addition to this, we know that many of our students participate in a number of extra curricular activities outside of school and we would like to celebrate some of these great achievements! These could include achievements in their Parish, music, sport, dance, drama, community service and community awards, to name a few. If your child has recently achieved something in an outside school area, please let us know! Details can be sent to info_holyfamily@dow.catholic.edu.au with the email subject ‘Belonging in a Connected Community’. We can then showcase their achievement in this section of our newsletter.
