Vale Bishop Emeritus Peter Ingham
You may have read that Bishop Emeritus Peter Ingham AM passed away on Friday 26th April. Bishop Peter was a much loved Bishop who was 83 years of age when he passed away and had spent almost 60 years as a priest serving God’s faithful.
We continue to pray for Bishop Peter this week as his Solemn Pontifical Mass of Christian Burial took place at St Francis Xavier Cathederal in Wollongong this morning.I was able to pay my respects and pray on behalf of our community last night at the Solemn Vigil Liturgy led by Bishop Brian Mascord. May the memory of Bishop Peter inspire us to carry on his legacy of service, compassion, and faithfulness. I know that His influence and impact will continue to grow as others are inspired to follow in his footsteps.
Mother’s Day Liturgy, P&F Morning Tea and Open Classrooms
We had a wonderful morning at today’s Mother’s Day Celebrations. Our liturgy, in the hall, was a special way to celebrate our beautiful mothers and mother figures. Our P&F committee organised a lovely morning tea, with the help of all of you who were able to contribute to the treats!
Our students were very excited about having visitors to their classrooms and really enjoyed showcasing their work and learning environments. I thank each of our staff members for the way they welcomed everyone into their classrooms and I hope you all enjoyed the morning, too.

Winter Uniform
As is practice here at Holy Family, the Monday after Mother’s Day is the date from which all students are expected to be dressed in full school winter uniform. Please see photographs below of the correct girls and boys winter uniform.
Annual Improvement Plan Update
Our Annual Improvement Goal for 2024 is that students will demonstrate engagement and learning growth in Mathematics. Our Staff Development Day held on Monday April 29th was focussed on achieving the following:
Assessment: Shared Understandings
Unpacking the new K- 6 Mathematics Syllabus content
Analysing task types: Routine/non-routine and open/closed
Problem solving
Collaborative assessment task design
Anzac Day Dawn Service
Audrey and Chidhindu, our School Captains, accompanied Miss Laidlaw and I to the Ingleburn RSL Dawn Service on Anzac Day. The ceremony commenced with the sombre and commemorative dawn service, which was the highlight of our morning. Congratulations to the Ingleburn RSL Sub-Branch who once again staged a moving Dawn Service.
Principal’s Morning Tea
This week I was able to host two Principal Morning Tea celebrations for students who completed all homework in Term 1. Both mornings were a great chance to celebrate the hard work and commitment of those students who completed all their homework.
For all things at Holy Family, give thanks!
Mrs Amy Smith
Principal
