From the Principal...
As you would’ve read in yesterday’s announcement from Mr Peter Hill, the Director of Schools, I have been appointed to the role of Principal of our wonderful school. I am very humbled and also very excited about the journey ahead. I look forward to working in partnership with you all, Fr Henry and the Parish to ensure that all students grow in faith and improve in their learning and do so within a connected community.
Thank you to those of you who have had the chance to complete the End of Year Parent Survey. We have started to read the responses and already have some ideas we can put into place to support some of the suggestions you have given to us. Once we have made some firm decisions, we will communicate these to you.
The survey will be open until Wednesday 6th December if you would still like to share your opinions and experiences: Survey Link
Advent
Our school has always been a place where the values of compassion and understanding are celebrated, and I am continually inspired by the kindness and generosity shown by our students, staff and families. Let us carry these values with us throughout Advent and extend a helping hand to those in need, which embodies the true spirit of this very special time.
This Sunday, as we light the first candle on the Advent wreath, let it serve as a symbol of the hope that is in our hearts and let it guide us through this special time of the Church’s year.
Christmas Concert

All students will need to be taken home after school to get ready. Students are invited to meet their teachers from 4:30pm in the school hall and then parents and carers can make their way to the church to be seated. Teachers will then bring the students to the church and they will sit with their classes so they are ready for their performance.
Our amazing P&F will have snacks and drinks for sale between 4 -4:25pm, for a ‘gold coin’ donation for each item where all proceeds will go to our local St Vincent de Paul chapter’s Christmas Appeal. These will be available next to the school hall. Please support this initiative if you can! Parents must supervise their children until they meet their teachers in the hall at 4:30pm.
To further support our Christmas Appeal, the P&F have organised 2 meat trays and 3 Darrel Lea chocolate packs to be raffled off at the conclusion of the concert. Tickets can be purchased at a table next to the snacks for $2 each or 3 for $5 before school on Monday morning and from 4pm on Monday afternoon.
At the conclusion of the concert, parents can go to the class teachers in the church to pick up their children.
We look forward to celebrating with you!

Fisher’s Ghost Writing Competition

Chrisanne competed against Year 4 - 6 students across the local area, with only one winner and one highly commended awarded in each category. We are proud of the work that Chrisanne produced, which is a testament to her dedication and talent as a young writer.
Chrisanne’s short story was published in a book along with other winners, with one line of feedback reading:
“A tale of connection despite differences stretched across time and space, about being open to new experiences and different points of view, while treating all creatures with kindness and respect.”
This feedback perfectly sums up Chrisanne’s attitude towards others and it is all that we hope for the character of our students at Holy Family.
We congratulate Chrisanne for this tremendous achievement!
Holy Land Experience: Mount of Beatitudes

This beautiful site, overlooking the Sea of Galilee is where Church Tradition indicates was the location of Jesus’ most significant teaching, ‘The Sermon on the Mount.’
It was here that Jesus gave us a most important gift. He gave us an understanding of how we as Christians can live a fulfilled and meaningful life.
“Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled.
Blessed are the merciful
for they will be shown mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 5: 3-10)

Jesus gave us a model for living that transcends time. He spoke to us of the importance of humility, justice, peace, equity and mercy. He gave us a blueprint for how we should interact with others in our world. At the Mount of Beatitudes, I felt a total sense of peace and calm. From the outdoor mass led by Bishop Brian Mascord to pondering and reflecting on one of my favourite sculptures, ‘The Homeless Jesus’ (Timothy Schmalz), this day of my pilgrimage gifted me a complete spiritual transformation.
The bronze sculpture, ‘Homeless Jesus’ was at the entrance to the gardens of the Church of the Beatitudes. It reminded me that we find Jesus in the child who is struggling to regulate their emotions, in the families who are labouring to put food on the table, and in those who seek refuge because they are displaced from their homes. We have been called to respond with compassion and empathy.
This week, I saw Jesus in the students of our school who comforted each other after they each had a minor setback. I saw the attitudes and values of some wonderful human beings who truly embody the essence of our Catholic faith and Jesus’ message.
We are truly blessed at Holy Family to have such a remarkable group of students, parents, teachers and leaders. It is for this I am grateful.
Please find attached an announcement from Peter Hill, Director of Schools regarding the Principalship at Holy Family Catholic Parish Primary School, Ingleburn.
On Monday 4th December (Week 9) at 4:30pm, we will be having our annual Christmas Celebration.

Year 1: Brown, black or grey to represent a donkey. Students will make donkey ears at school to match their outfit.
Year 2: Christmas colours.
Year 3: Christmas colours.
Year 4: White with silver or gold tinsel around their head or wrists to represent angels.
Year 5: Brown, black, grey or beige to represent shepherds. If you have a tea towel to match, the students may wear this on their heads as a veil.
Year 6: Christmas colours. If students would like to make or wear a crown to match their outfits, they may do so, as they will be representing the three kings and the little drummer boy.
Depending on weather, please see Compass on the day for location. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to ask at the office or see Mrs Thompson.
Christmas Carols in the Church
On Friday 8th December, there will be Christmas Carols at the Church at 6:30pm. The school will be singing two songs on the night and we encourage families to discuss with their children whether they would like to participate - all children K-6 are invited to join the school choir for this event. Students attending, are asked to wear full school uniform with Christmas accessories. Students must be supervised at all times. Teachers will not be available on the night for supervision.
PB4L Focus - Library
Our current fortnightly focus is how students can be safe, respectful and responsible when going to the Library. Students were reminded that the Library is a calm and quiet place where they can explore books, read and listen to stories. Teachers went over how students are to care for books when using them at home and at school. Borrowing and reshelving procedures were also revised.
