Last Week’s Gospel
Matthew 22:1-14 is a well-known parable from the New Testament of the Bible, often referred to as the Parable of the Wedding Feast. This parable is a powerful and thought-provoking story that conveys several messages.
Upon reflection, last week’s Gospel teaches us about the universality of God's invitation to salvation. He teaches us that the Kingdom of God is open to us all. He also teaches us the importance of coming to Him ready, and the consequences of rejecting His offer of grace. It reminds us that God's love is available to us all, but it requires a genuine response and a commitment to living a transformed life in accordance with His will.
This can be difficult in our modern world, however, if we make time for prayer, the Eucharist, remove distractions and make time for Him, then we can be open to a loving relationship with our God.
Welcome Mrs Pritchard
Mrs Pritchard is our Acting Assistant Principal for the rest of the year. We are pleased to have her as part of Holy Family! Mrs Pritchard has already commented on the warm welcome she has received from you all and your wonderful children, and the calm, happy community we have here. We hope you all meet Mrs Pritchard in person soon.
Christmas Art Competition
Last Wednesday I had the privilege of attending the Diocese of Wollongong’s Christmas Art Competition Opening Night. We had two student artists whose artworks made it through to this level of the competition. Summer N and Lara B. Both students did incredibly well to be selected to this level of the competition.
On opening night, we were fortunate enough to hear that Lara’s artwork was a finalist in the competition meaning that her artwork will proceed through to the next level of the competition, competing against not only Wollongong finalists, but also Sydney and Bathurst finalists.
Lara was also announced as the winner of the Director’s Choice Award. We are extremely proud of Lara’s artwork and accompanying reflection. Her award also comes with 100 Christmas cards with her image on the front.
2024 Classes
Our school staff invest significant time and care into creating balanced classes. We consider various factors, such as learning styles, individual needs, and social dynamics, to ensure that each class is a supportive and enriching environment for every student.
If you have any requests about separating your child from another student for any reason, please send them to me in writing at info_holyfamily@dow.catholic.edu.au Even if you have told the classroom teacher, please also write to me. I check them all against the lists. I will make contact with you if I have a difficulty accommodating your request. If something has been put in place in a previous year that you want to continue, please also write that too. With 380 students in the school, we just can’t look up the record of every student! Once students are told their classes on promotions afternoon in the last week of school, no changes will be made. Requests to avoid a particular teacher will not be granted. Any concerns you have about any of the staff should already have been brought to my attention and worked through. Please email or telephone the office if you would like to speak to me and the office staff will make an appointment for you.
We want to assure you that any input you provide will be treated with utmost confidentiality. We respect your privacy and understand that these decisions can be sensitive.
Students will meet their new classmates and teachers at promotions afternoon on Monday, December 11th.
To ensure that we have sufficient time to consider your input, please submit your requests by November 10th. Requests received after this date may not be considered.
End of Year Dates
Please ensure you refer to the diary dates for important end of year dates. We know the end of the year is a busy time, so we wanted to provide you with as much information and notice as possible!
God Bless
Mrs Amy Smith
Acting Principal
PB4L Focus - Friday Afternoon Assembly
Our current fortnightly focus is how students can be safe, respectful and responsible when attending ‘Whole School Assembly’ on Friday afternoons. Teachers have taken the time to explicitly revise the expectations students are to follow when present at assembly, including following the 5L’s, respectfully partaking in the National Anthem and prayer, and accepting awards with pride. Students are also reminded to walk to and from assembly in two quiet lines, following the instructions of their teacher.
A Few Reminders:
Reminder that the school bell goes at 8.45am, all students need to be at school by 8.45am at the latest.
