Last Sunday’s Gospel
Last Sunday our Church celebrated the solemnity of Pentecost. Pentecost marks the end of the Easter Season and is a time when we are reminded of the role of the Holy spirit in our lives. We are so blessed to be guided by the Holy Spirit each day. Father Henry used a torch to teach the children about how the Holy Spirit works at Mass on Monday morning. He explained that a light like a torch can’t work without batteries and we need the Holy Spirit guiding us to be able to let our light shine!
Camp Quality Puppet Shows
Last Thursday, Camp Quality came to our school to perform two puppet shows. The two puppet shows, through a wonderfully entertaining and humorous way, taught the staff and students about cancer and how it can impact people.
The program relates to children on their level and explores themes relevant to the cancer experience, including:
- You can’t catch cancer from someone else
- Treatments and side-effects of cancer
- How to be supportive of someone facing cancer
- The importance of recognising our own strengths and the power of positivity
Holy Family’s Biggest Brunch - Cancer Council
At Holy Family, we have some staff and students’ family members currently impacted by Cancer which is why we have a focus on learning about Cancer and supporting fundraising efforts that go towards research and support. This year, we are hosting a Cancer Council ‘Holy Family’s Biggest Brunch’.
Our staff are supporting this initiative by donating money to purchase brunch food items that will be available on Friday between 8:30am and 9am under the shelter. Students can support this great cause by bringing in a gold coin (or two) to buy brunch items. We hope this event brings us together as a community and that we can raise much needed funds to send to the Cancer Council.
We thank you for your support!
National Simultaneous Storytime
On Wednesday each class participated in National Simultaneous Storytime at 12pm. This year’s book is ‘Bowerbird Blues’ by Aura Parker. It was such a special time to think that all around Australia people were all reading along to the very same book!
Semester One Reports
Semester One Student Reports will be made available via Compass on Friday, June 28th. Miss Laidlaw has more information within today’s newsletter about key features and changes to this year’s reports across the Diocese of Wollongong.
For all things at Holy Family, give thanks!
