West Region Swimming Carnival
On Wednesday, February 28th, some of our students competed at the West Region Swimming Carnival at Bradbury Pool.
First we all warmed up in the pool and then we all sat in the grandstand ready to race. The first race was the 100 metre freestyle. We cheered for everyone as they raced. We swam in the relay and we were really proud of ourselves.
We had an awesome day at Bradbury with our friends, Mr Rice and Mrs Berkhout, swimming and representing our school.

Athletics Carnival
Our 2024 athletics carnival was held on Monday 18th March. It was a fun experience for many people including the kindergarteners who had their first carnival this year. The weather held out and we enjoyed a very mild day. We would like to thank our wonderful parent helpers and staff. We would also like to thank the Mount Carmel students who helped many children when participating in different activities, and last but not least our athletic students who helped make this carnival exciting and memorable.
The first events of the carnival were 800m and then the 200m. Some children arrived early for those events and the rest of the school arrived by bus later on. Eight year olds and up competed for the first races of the carnival. All eight year olds and up competed in the 100m heats, the finals were held later on in the day. The children under 8 years old participated in fun activities such as parachute play, steal the chicken and a 90 m sprint. Overall everyone enjoyed their time at the 2024 Athletics Carnival for Holy Family, and the day was a very memorable event for the new kindergarteners.
All of Holy Family were separated into age based groups, to take part in the rotation activities, either competitively or just giving a new sport a try. The sports in the rotation included discus, long jump, shot put, 100 metre dashes and the relays. All of the children had a great time, whether jumping into the sandpit, or competing against their friends. During the rotations, all the children were given one lunch break halfway through, before returning to their next station. The Mount Carmel students were at every station, ready to give their service when needed. They ensured that your children were taken care of in every house by helping teachers and captains, and every single student had fun, even in the blazing sun!
All of Holy Family competed for house points. Kids competed and everyone tried to be on top. The carnival was fun but competitive, people cheered louder than ever for their colour, their amazing cheers got them even more points for their houses. People were cheering with all of their heart, so they could be champions of the athletics carnival they had great team spirit. People can’t win this by themselves, they need each other.
