From the Principal

Last Sunday’s Gospel…

We heard one of the stories that showed Jesus had truly risen from the dead. Jesus cooked breakfast for the apostles on the beach while they were out fishing. They hadn’t had any luck but when Jesus told them to cast the net again, they caught so many they couldn’t pull them all in. The story shows that we continually need to be guided by Jesus and that he was really alive because he could physically touch things and talk to them.

From the Principal...

I set out from my home at 4am on ANZAC Day to attend the dawn service at Ingleburn RSL and lay a wreath on behalf of the school. Our school captains, vice captains and their families attended as well and represented Holy Family. I very much appreciate the effort of our captains and their families attending in full school uniform so early in the morning! We had a little rain in the end but it was worth it.

The children have probably told you the rest of our furniture arrived. So Years 4-6 were busy for the first hour of the first day back settling K-2 with their new desks and chairs. The library has also been set up with new soft furnishings, tables and bookshelves. The P&F have kindly covered the cost of reupholstering the ottomans, the wall paper murals and a special teacher reading chair for the library – still to come. You are welcome to pop in for a look when you pick up your children. You will also notice the upgrade to the rest of our wet areas. The space is now more serviceable and the children seem very excited about all their new things. The books the P&F donated for classroom libraries are due next week too. Dion from QBD book shop at Macarthur Square was extremely helpful! Next we will restock the library with books and have a look at the school’s technological requirements again. I would also like to mention the efforts of Mrs Jones. Our old furniture has gone to Tonga where the community has suffered from the effect of the recent tsunami thanks to Mrs Jones and her parish. So her effort, along with Ms Stroligo making contact with various community groups for our Years 3-6 furniture means at least 80% has been fully recycled!

We have had Kinder interviews this week. It has been a lovely experience to meet our potential Kinder class of 2023. We have met a lot of new families so our Holy Family family keeps getting bigger! If you haven’t put in an application, please do so as soon as possible because it looks like we will fill our classes easily and once offers go out, we can’t take places back again. Fr Henry has been meeting families throughout the interview time and it has been wonderful to have him working with us.

Our new website is up and running. Please take some time to have a look at it and let us know if there are any problems with it. We can’t change things at school but we can make contact with the people at our head office who can fix things quickly!

I look forward to seeing you at our Mother’s Day liturgy on Friday!

God Bless,
