PB4L Focus

Term 2 Week 6

PB4L_Image.png

Our current fortnightly focus has been focusing on our ‘I can’ posters that are displayed on each playground. At the commencement of each duty teachers speak to the students briefly about the activities they can engage in on their assigned playground.

Teachers have commented on the improvement of student behaviour since commencing this PB4L focus last week.

Kindergarten and Year 1 have been fortunate to receive new playground equipment to keep them entertained during their breaks. Students have been looking forward to using this new equipment each day. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our Year 6 students for their continued leadership and support. Over the last two weeks Year 6 students have taken the time to teach Kindergarten and Year 1 appropriate activities they can participate in when using their new playground equipment.

Social and Emotional Learning

In my last newsletter insert I shared with you a resource that some teachers are using in the classroom to support students with their social and emotional wellbeing. The Zones of Regulation can be used at home with your children. By using the zones of regulation and mindful activities students learn strategies that they can use to stay in a zone or move from one zone to another.

As I mentioned previously some grades have been using Smiling Mind.24cd684712186e180941773d3d05d949.png

Another strategy that can be used is mindful breathing using a chime or bell. During this time students are encouraged to focus on their breathing and repeat the word ‘Maranatha’ meaning ‘Come Lord Jesus’. This is a form of Christian Meditation. Students have also been using a strategy called the ‘Lazy 8’

Uniform

Just a reminder that earrings can only be a silver/gold ball stud (no stones) or sleeper/hoop earrings that can be rotated through the ear (no clips). Please see the image below or contact your child’s classroom teacher if you have any further questions.

We have been working extremely hard on ensuring all students are in the correct uniform and appreciate all your support regarding the school uniform.

Remember your bread bags, bread bags!

And don’t forget your bread tags, bread tags!

Over the fortnight students and teachers have been extremely busy collecting recycled bread bags and bread tags. Just a reminder that this competition ends on the last day of Term 2 so please continue collecting empty bread bags and bread tags. This week the class that brings in the most bread bags will receive a prize which will be announced at Friday’s assembly.

Year 6 has been collecting each class's bread bags and bread tags. They have been quite impressed by the large quantity of bread bags and the large range of companies that bake bread.

All the collected plastic will be used to create wonderful new things like school play equipment! PLUS all registered schools are in the draw to WIN one of:

five exercise circuits made from the recycled plastic we collect.
